The Vakf Instutions, regulated both by Turkish Law and TRNC Law since the Ottoman Empire, are very important for both of the legal systems. It is therefore crucial, to discuss the acquisition of properties that belong to the vakfs by acquistive prescription. The rules of both of the legal system that regulates acquistive prescription of properties belonging to the vakf instutions changed in time. The comparison of the rules in these two legal systems proves that acquistive prescription of the immovable properties that belong to the vakf instutions is possible in TRNC legal system with certain conditions while it is not possible in Turkish legal system
