Abstract:

Wind energy is one of the fastest-growing renewable energy technologies. Its use is spreading out on the worldwide with the decrease in costs and the increase in the capacity factor. In terms of location and climate conditions, wind energy potential of our country is much more advantageous than many countries. Turkey is one of the world's fastest growing renewable energy market. In this study, the performances of wind power plants (WPPs) in Balıkesir province were evaluated by using ENTROPI and MAUT methods, which are mathematically multi-criteria decision making techniques, taking into account economic, geographical and environmental factors. Each criterion used in the study was weighted with the ENTROPI method and performance ranking was made using the MAUT method. Wind Energy Potential Atlas (REPA) and Google Earth were used for the numerical value of the criteria. As a result of the evaluation of 19 WPPs operating in Balıkesir province, the criterion that has the highest importance on performance is “Distance to Transformer Centers”, while the lowest criterion is wind speed. . In the ranking made by considering all weighted criteria, Poyraz RES took the first place, while Şah Wind Power Plant and Bandırma Kurşunlu RES took the second and third place.
