Abstract:

This study aimed at evaluating the distance learning process in higher education institutions during the pandemic period from the point of view of teachers. In addition, the situation of the BÖTE section in this process has also been examined. The study was conducted in the context of the quality research plan. The participants of the study were composed of 7 faculty members working at 7 different state universities in 5 different geographical regions. The structured conversation form developed by the researcher was used to collect data from the study group. This form consisting of open end questions and voice conversations with the participants were conducted by telephone between 23 May 2020 and 24 June 2020. Interviews were analyzed through the content analysis method. According to the results obtained from the study, higher education institutions have not been successful in the management of the distance learning process. In this case, the unprepared formation of the infrastructure and teaching elements is determined as the most important factors. It has been shown that the tasks of the teachers are increased to be able to overcome these problems. This is generally done in a technical form. In addition, although the perception of BÖTE seems to have changed positively during the process, the department teachers have pointed out that similar problems could also be faced in the future. If the results are needed to understand the distance learning process, it is thought that it will be useful to keep light on the state of the BÖTE section during this period.
