Bulgular: Helmint yumurtaları ve protozoon kistleri yönünden incelenen tüm örneklerin 11,836’sı (%48) kadın, 12,815’i (%52) erkek hastalara aittir. Dışkı numunelerinin %61,8’i 0-15 yaş, %13,6’sı 16-30 yaş, %11,9’u 31-45 yaş, %7,5’i 46-60 yaş, %5,2’si 61 yaş ve üzerindeki hastalar tarafından verilmiştir. Örnekler incelendiğinde, 1.234’ünde (%4,9) parazit yumurtası görülmüştür. Parazit saptanan hastaların %51’i 0-15 yaş grubunda, %44’ü kadın hastalardan oluşmaktadır.
Purpose: Depending on hygiene and general health conditions, parasitic infections in human communities can still be seen frequently. The aim of our study is to identify the distribution of intestinal parasites and positive cases identified in the output samples sent to the Laboratory of Microbiology for the past five years for the study of parasites due to gastrointestinal proximities and in terms of gender, age and years. Method: From 24,786 patients with gastrointestinal proximity from January 1, 2014 to August 31, 2018 from 24,651 output samples sent to us at the Izmir Menemen State Hospital Microbiology Laboratory in the period from January 1, 2014 to August 31, 2018, preparations with lugol were prepared and the microscope was examined in the direction of the parasite. In 135 cases, the presence of Enterobius vermicularis was also studied with the selophane band method, and the findings were evaluated as retrospective. Results: Of all the samples studied in the direction of Helmint eggs and protozoon cysts, 11,836 (48%) are female and 12,815 (52%) male patients. 61.8 percent of the output samples were given by patients aged 0-15 years, 13.6 percent aged 16-30 years, 11.9 percent aged 31-45 years, 7.5 percent aged 46-60 years, 5.2 percent aged 61 years and older. When the examples were studied, 1,234 (4.9%) of the parasitic eggs were observed. 51 percent of the patients diagnosed with parasite are in the 0-15-year-old group and 44 percent are female patients. In the distribution of parasites Giardia intestinalis is isolated at 11.4%, Ascaris lumbricoides 3.9%, Enterobius vermicularis 2.4%, Taenia saginata 0.4%, Trichuris trichiura 0.1%, Entamoeba histolytica 12.9%, and Entamoeba dispar 68.9%, nonpatogen. Result: It is important to develop effective treatment protocols in order to combat the infectious diseases caused by parasites and to take protective measures. The tracking of epidemiological data is of great importance especially in our areas with intense migration from Syria. In studies conducted in different hospitals in our country, the frequency of intestinal parasites varies between 4.1-75%. Our study showed that the rate of parasites we detected was 4.9%, and that the frequency was similar among our regions. Arthritis is an important health problem that needs to be dealt with.
