Abstract:

People’s culture provides order and harmony in the individual’s life within society. In the formation of the popular culture, the history, social structure, cultural events, and developing technology of the society in which the individual lives are influential. People’s cultural products are the basic indicator of the expression, sentiment and thought unity of the Turkish community life. In the Turkish culture, marriage is one of the most intense transitional periods in which the cultural elements of the social life are experienced. With the practice and beliefs in the period of marriage, the purpose of the individual is to be happy in the newly beginner life, to protect from evils. With the beliefs from the ancient Turks to the present day, religious-magical practices are applied to bless the newly joined person in the family. In this study, our most important works that keep light on the past have been focused on the practices and practices in the phases that form the marriage forms, found in the Grandfather's Book of Fear and public stories, the search for a girl, the request for a girl, the thick / title, the bride, the marriage and the marriage.
