Abstract:

The purpose of this article is to discuss the relations between the Russian Federation (RF) and Iran in the Post-Cold War period on the basis of military, security, economic and energy dimensions. The article first discussed the security relations between the two countries historically and under this title briefly referred to the military relations. Specifically after 2012 the issue of Syria, which continues to engage in the world’s agenda, and the stronger relations between the two countries have been emphasized, and the reasons for this have been tried to explore in detail. The main conflict points in the relations that are open to development in the economy and energy field are the subject of the status of Hazard and the demand to be a leading energy supplier in the markets such as Europe, Turkey and the Balkans. After the agreement signed in July 2015 with the Russian Federation, which is a major contribution to Iran’s nuclear work, which opened the way to solve the nuclear issue diplomatically, it will have both achievements and points of concern. The article lastly discussed the relations of the two countries within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). As a result, the article defends the thesis that the Russian Federation and Iran will continue to close on cooperation issues, although they have conflicting interests in the region where they are located.
