The economies of countries are formed by businesses in different fields that have different capacities, productivity, purposes and legal and organizational structures. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), constituting the most part of today’s businesses, are one of the core components of the economies in the world with their flexible structure. SMEs, adapting more easily to the changes, pave the way for a fairer income distribution with their contribution to economic growth and the reducing of unemployment with new job opportunities. This study documented the structures, characteristics, local distribution and potentials of big industrial businesses and SMEs forming a big part of these businesses located in Sarayönü district of Konya province. Their contribution to local and national economy was also investigated. This study is intended to contribute to new potential developments that can take place with the increase in industrialization in Sarayönü district
