Abstract:

The vocabulary of a language is an important element that reflects the history, way of life and beliefs of that society, as well as a valuable criterion that indicates the richness of that language. The vocabulary of the Turkish language is also a unique treasure as a reflector of Turkish culture. Today, Turkish has become an indispensable research field for Turcologists and linguists, and studies on vocabulary have started to gain importance day by day. In this study, the belief-based superstitious vocabulary in Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar's novel Muhabbet Talsım is emphasized you need transition here the superstitious vocabulary that comes to the fore in the novel is examined in detail. Words and phrases that indicate superstitious are grouped under 13 topics and each word is given with its dictionary meaning; example usage in the sentence. In the existing vocabulary, noun, adjective, verb-specific words and simple, derivative and compound words in terms of structure are also included; it has been determined that mostly Eastern origin Arabic, Turkish, Persian and Arabic + Turkish words are predominant in terms of origin. The study also includes collocational uses of some words that express consider superstition -according to the examples obtained in the sentence. Colloquial usages generally feature noun phrases, adjectives, compound verbs and idioms. In addition, the meanings of the collocation forms of the words were not given, instead, the use of examples in the sentence was contented.
