Bibliotherapy is a process of dynamic interaction between the personality of a reader and the literature. It is a technique that can be used in clinical practice as well as in classrooms. Gifted and talented students are interested in reading books from a very early age therefore bibliotherapy is a technique that can be used with them to overcome or prevent various problems. The first purpose of this study was to examine gifted and average students’ differences about their opinions related to reading through a survey 37 gifted and talented, 33 average, 70 2nd and 4th grade students . The second aim of the study was to determine the effects of the bibliotherapy program to the self-esteem levels of gifted and talented experiment 5 girls, 3 boys, 8 in total 4th grade gifted students and control 5 girls, 3 boys, 8 in total 4th grade gifted students groups. Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children WISC-R was used to determine the intelligence levels and the Culture-Free Self-Esteem Inventories CFSEI-2 Form A for Children to determine the self-esteem levels of the working group. Research findings showed that both gifted and average students like reading and find it substantial, but gifted students buy more often new books, they read more, they prefer certain authors, their reading lead to conclusions and they like sharing what they read with others than their average peers.
