İnsan hakları eğitimi, sosyal bilgiler öğretim programlarında yoğun bir şekilde ele alınmaya başlanmıştır. Demokratik standartların yükseltilmesinde ve bilinçli yurttaşın inşasında insan hakları eğitiminin önemi büyüktür. Ancak öğrencilerimizin insan haklarına karşı tutumlarının yeterince pozitif olup olmadığı soru konusudur. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın amacı ortaokul öğrencilerinin insan haklarına yönelik tutumlarını çeşitli değişkenler açısından incelemektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Sivas il merkezinde bulunan dört ortaokul kurumunda öğrenim görmekte olan 690 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Ortaokul öğrencilerinin insan haklarına yönelik tutumlarını inceleyen bu araştırmada veriler Ercan vd. (2015) tarafından geliştirilen 21 maddelik “İnsan Hakları Tutum Ölçeği” ve kişisel bilgi formu uygulanarak toplanmıştır. Veri toplama araçlarının uygulanmasından sonra elde edilen veriler SPSS Statistic 18 paket programı kullanılarak bilgisayar ortamında istatistiksel işleme tabi tutulmuş; verilerin frekans ve yüzde değerleri hesaplanmış, değişkenlerin durumuna göre aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, bağımsız gruplar için t-testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi ve Tukey HSD testleri yapılmıştır. Yapılan analizlerle öğrencilerin insan haklarına yönelik tutumları farklı değişkenler açısından değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak; ortaokul öğrencilerinin insan haklarına yönelik tutumlarında cinsiyet, öğrencilerin kitap okuma sıklığı, günlük internete girme sıklığı, en sevdikleri ders ve sosyal bilgiler öğretmeninin cinsiyeti değişkenine göre farklılıklar gösterirken; aile aylık geliri değişkenine göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemektedir.
Human rights education has begun to be intensively addressed in the social information curriculum. The importance of human rights education in raising democratic standards and building a conscious citizen is great. But the question is whether our students’ attitudes towards human rights are positive enough. The aim of the study in this context is to study the attitudes of high school students towards human rights in terms of various variables. The research study group consists of 690 students who are studying in four high school institutions located in the center of Sivas province. This study examines the attitudes of high school students towards human rights data Ercan vd. It is collected by the application of 21 articles "Human Rights Attitude Scale" and personal information form developed by 2015. The data obtained after the application of data collection tools were subject to statistical processing in the computer environment using the SPSS Statistic 18 package program; the frequency and percentage values of the data were calculated, the arithmetic average according to the status of the variables, standard deviation, t-test for independent groups, one-way variance analysis and Tukey HSD tests were performed. The analysis of the students’ attitudes towards human rights has been evaluated by different variables. As a result, the attitudes of high school students towards human rights differ by gender, the frequency of students reading books, the frequency of daily internet access, their favorite lessons and social information by the teacher’s gender variable; the family does not show a significant difference by the monthly income variable.
Recently human rights education has begun to be handled intensively in the curriculum of social studies. Human rights education is very important in raising democratic standards and in training conscious citizens. However, whether attitudes of our students against human rights are positive enough or not is a discussion topic. In this context, the aim of this study is to examine the attitudes of secondary school students towards human rights in terms of various variables. The study group is composed of 690 students attending four different secondary in the county town of Sivas city. In this study which examines the attitudes of secondary school students towards human rights in terms of various variables, the data was collected by administrating 21-article HR (Human Rights) attitude scale and personal information form, which were developed by Ercan et al. (2015). After data collection tools were administrated, obtained data were processed by using SPSS Statistic 18 package programme in computer environment. In this context, frequency and percentage values of the data were calculated, t-test for independent groups, one-way analysis of variance and Tukey’s HSD test was done. Attitudes of students towards human rights were evaluated in terms of different variables through the analysis carried out. As a result it was seen that whereas attitudes of secondary school students towards human rights varied according to their gender, reading habits, daily internet usage frequency, their favourite lesson and to the gender of social studies teacher variables, their attitudes did show significant difference according to whether they have monthly family income variables, are not very different.
