Abstract:

The purpose of the study was to identify the problems that Syrian migrants encounter when learning Turkish and to bring solutions to the problems. There were 17 adults interviewed. In the research method and content analysis technique used, migrants want to learn Turkish to address their needs in their social life, to agree with their Turkish friends; they are faced with problems such as not understanding the fast speech while acquiring their language skills, not knowing the meaning of some words and the functions of the additions, not knowing the meaning of the vocal letters and not knowing the meaning of the shaped expressions; adult migrants experience individual, social and economic problems while learning Turkish. Immigrants speak in their daily lives to fulfill the formal processes of Turkish, to meet their daily needs, to be able to communicate with Turkish friends, to teach their children; they think that Turkish lessons are sufficient to learn Turkish while they believe that making some changes in the lessons will be more useful for themselves. Immigrants believe that their classmates are an advantage for them to be immigrants.
