The language is the most important power to change the World. In order to reach this power, new approaches and strategies are used in developed countries. Generally, they are ordered as “constructivist, activity and skill approach”. The movement point of skill approach is the concept of “skill”. In this approach, it is aimed to improve the skills of language, mental, social and emotional. The skill is the individuals’ transferring their mental sources such as concept, strategy, technique and process to the application. The skill is composed of knowing, moving and doing (applying) task. In the skill approach, the skills to be acquired by the students in the schools are separated into two groups. They are general and particular or being transferred and subject skills. Subject skills are the skills that must be learned related to a discipline; that is, skills about the subjects such as language, mathematics, science and social. The skills which are transferred are the skills of exploring, questioning, learning, deciding, problem solving, cooperating used in various subjects and real life. Teaching skill is different from teaching knowledge and behavior. In this approach, information and necessary explanation about the skill which will be improved are provided to the students, and then strategy and techniques developing the skill are taught. According to this approach, the cooperation of the students to make the activities and the tasks improves the language and mental skills. Hence, the students should be provided by various activities and tasks appropriate for them based on their levels in education process. The skill approach appears in new Turkish teaching program designed based on constructivist approach. In Turkish teaching, it is aimed to improve the students’ mental, emotional and social skills in addition to their language skills. In order to improve these skills, the students are supported by various activities, tasks and projects.
