Abstract:

The mastery of Elmalılı in Arabic and French, the authorship and translation of the sources of the different fields of these languages are known by everyone, and the source does not mention any work of Elmalılı in this field, which is the subject of the Persian language. The Elmalılı, the translation work on the main sources in the different fields of Islamic works, the tasavvufist direction, the accumulation of poetry and literature, the library of the scientists and the Mesnevî of Mevlânâ, which is one of the heads of Islamic literature, has also translated from Persian to Turkish. Our work is on the very successful translation of Elmalılı on the Mesnevîs of Mevlânâ from the beginning to the 366th century and from every point of view that was first revealed by us.

Althoguh it is a well known fact that Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır is a competent user of Arabic, French and Farsi and produced some translated and copyrighted works, in the liretarute there is no record of information about his farsi productions. His great passion the and works on the translation of the main sources of Islamic literature in different fields lead Elmalılı to translate one of master pieces of the Islamic heritage, the Mesnevi from Farsi to Turkish. It is one of the most prevalent and essential books in the catalogue’s of every library. This article will be about Elmalılı’s succesful translation of Mesnevi which was brought into light for the first time by the author. This previously unknown translation covers Mesnevi’s first 366 verses.
