Abstract:

Real estate investment trusts (REITs) are publicly traded companies operating to invest in real estate, real estate-based projects, and real estate-based capital market instruments. With the increase in financial crises day by day, corporate governance has gained importance all over the world. It is thought that the performance of companies increases with the effective implementation of corporate governance and companies with better corporate governance attract investors. The aim of this study is to measure the financial performances of REITs traded in the Borsa İstanbul (BIST) Corporate Governance Index (XKURY) for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 with the Improved IDOCRIW and MABAC methods. According to the results obtained from the improved IDOCRIW method, the importance levels of the criteria differ for each year. The results obtained from the MABAC method indicate that AKMGY and HLGYO have more stable and higher performance than other REIT companies. The results obtained in the study reveal that the proposed integrated model can be used in performance evaluation and improvement.
