OBJECTIVE: In this study, we aim at uncovering names, ethnicity and works of non-muslim doctors and health crew working in Denizli Sanjaq in Ottoman Era.METHODS: Religious Registry Books, Ottoman archive records and the news appearing in İzmir press have been translated and examined. RESULTS: In the documents we examine, in classical period doctors carried out their jobs with approval and accompaniment of chief physician. After Tanzimat (Reform), Meclis-i Tıbbiye-i Mülkiye (Council of Medicine) and Sıhhiye-i Umûmiye Riyaseti replaced Chief Physicians’ function. No matter what their nationality was, doctors could carry out their jobs in the framework of legislations.CONCLUSION: Sharing the same city with muslims, non-muslim doctors carried out their jobs and cured theirs neighbors without caring ethnicity and religion.
