Abstract Approximately since the second half of the 20th century, the approach to Health has a more inclusive nature, which addresses not only the effects caused by biological agents, but also the influence of lifestyles on the well-being of both individuals and of society as a whole. Cuba has not been oblivious to this process and within this framework, the National Statistics Office (ONE) and the National Institute of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology (INHEM), have jointly applied various population surveys to assess knowledge and perceptions of people, regarding this sensitive issue.
