Fransız düşünür Michel Foucault, sosyal bilime yaptığı katkılar ile bedene ve tıbba olan bakış açısını değiştirerek sağlık ve hastalık sosyolojisine önemli kazanımlar sağlamıştır. “Biyo-İktidar” kavramı Foucault tarafından ortaya konulmuş olup, toplumun ve nüfusun kontrol edilmesinin mümkünlüğünden bahsetmektedir. Bu noktada biyo-iktidar kavramı bedenler üzerinde kurulan iktidar olarak tanımlanabilecektir. “Biyo-politika” kavramı ise biyo-iktidar kavramının daha öznel bir çerçevede ele alınması ile şekillenmiştir. Biyo-politika, insan biyolojisi ve politikayı bağdaştırarak yaşamı idame etmek, sürdürmek, düzene koymak ve çoğalmak gibi kavramları ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Araştırmada sağlık ve hastalık kavramlarının biyo-politika çerçevesinde değerlendirmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu bağlamda araştırma kapsamında, biyo-iktidar ve biyo-politika kavramlarına Foucault’un görüşleri temel alınarak detaylı bir şekilde yer verilmiş, sağlık ve hastalığın biyo-politika çerçevesinde değerlendirmesinin yapılması ve değişen bakış açıları kavramsal çerçevede ortaya konulmuştur.
The French philosopher Michel Foucault made significant gains in the sociology of health and disease by changing perspective on the body and medicine with his contributions to social science. “Bio-Power” was introduced by Foucault and refers to the possibility of controlling society and population. The concept of bio-power can be defined as the power established on bodies. “Bio-politics” is a concept that has been shaped by considering the concept of bio-power in a more subjective framework. Bio-politics brings out concepts such as survival, ordering and reproduction by reconciling human biology and politics. In the research, it is aimed to evaluate the concepts of health and disease within the framework of bio-policy. Within the scope of the research, the concepts of bio-power and bio-politics were given in detail based on Foucault's views, health and disease were evaluated within the framework of bio-policy and changing perspectives were examined in a conceptual framework.
