At the base of modern thought, there are some thoughts like Descartes' cogito and the idea of mechanism. The real facility of the idea of Enlightenment has been influenced by as much other resources as Descartes' thought. Modern thought, sitting on different basics such as Locke, Bacon, Hobbes, Hume, Newton and especially Kant, over time, turned to a secular structure contradicting some of Descartes' principles. This article tries to describe Descartes' ideas that are different from the secular modern understanding. In this context, Descartes’ views on matters like reason, God, being, difference, and history, will be described.
