Abstract:

When the Sivas region is examined in terms of history and culture, it is seen that it has hosted many civilizations from the past to the present and the cultural structures of these civilizations are reflected in the folk songs and dances of the Sivas region. The main purpose of the study is to examine the traditional dance music of the Sivas region in terms of maqam serials and rhythm dimensions. In the academic study, the maqam serials, usuls (rhytms), and tempos of traditional dance music of the Sivas region were examined, analyzed, classified, and interpreted. The input of the research was obtained by using literature and documentary source surveying methods. In this relation, the notes of the related traditional dance music were inspected by content analysis. As a result of the checks made in the TRT Turkish Folk Music Repertoire, a total of 43 dance tunes belonging to the Sivas region were determined. It has been observed that almost all (99%) of the determined traditional dance music are mainly “halay”. When the distribution of the traditional folk dance by districts is examined, it has been regulated that the traditional dance music is concentrated in Sivas Central District. In the modal (maqam) analysis, it has been determined that Hüseyni (45%), Uşşâk (13%), Segâh (11%) and Çargâh (9%) maqams are predominant, and in the rhythmic analyzes, 2/4 and 4/4 usuls are used intensively.
