Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye ve Singapur’da kullanılan 8. sınıf matematik ders kitaplarında yer alan geometri ve ölçme öğrenme alanına ait soruları ele alarak, kitapların PISA matematik yeterlik ölçeğine göre karşılaştırmalı analizlerini yapmaktır. Bu çalışma nitel bir araştırma olup, kitap incelemesi için doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada Türkiye’de kullanılan kitapta yer alan toplam 236 soru, Singapur ders kitabında ise toplam 385 soru incelenmiş, sorular iki araştırmacı tarafından bağımsız bir şekilde ayrı ayrı kodlanmıştır. Kodlamalarda sağlanan yüksek uyum yüzdeleri, araştırmanın güvenilir olduğunu göstermektedir. Yapılan analizlerin sonuçlarına göre Türkiye’de kullanılan 8. sınıf ders kitabında düzey 5 ve düzey 6’da soru olmadığı, en fazla sorunun 2. düzeyde yer aldığı görülmüştür. Singapur’daki ders kitabında ise üst düzey olarak kabul edilen 5. ve 6. düzeye ait soruların bulunduğu, soruların daha çok 3. düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu bağlamda, Singapur’un PISA’daki başarısı da göz önüne alınırsa, Türkiye’deki matematik ders kitaplarında yer alan soruların PISA yeterlik düzeyleri artırılabilir.
The purpose of this study is to make a comparative analysis of the 8th grade mathematics textbooks used in Turkey and Singapore according to the PISA mathematics proficiency scale by addressing the questions related to geometry and measurement learning in the textbooks. In this qualitative research, document analysis method was used. In the research, a total of 236 questions in the book used in Turkey and a total of 385 questions in the Singapore textbook were examined. The questions were coded separately by two researchers independently. The high percentages of agreement achieved in the coding show that the research is reliable. According to the results of the analysis, it was seen that there were no questions at level 5 and level 6 in the 8th grade textbook used in Turkey, and the most questions were at level 2. In the textbook in Singapore, it was determined that there were questions belonging to the 5th and 6th levels, which are considered high-level, and that the questions were mostly at the 3rd level.
