Abstract In this study, we aimed to examine bulimia nervosa from a cognitive behavioral perspective. For this purpose, various research and theories in the literature were examined and the causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment methods of bulimia nervosa were discussed. It is thought that one of the main causes of bulimia nervosa is negative cognitive beliefs about the eating behaviors of individuals. Feelings of shame and guilt after eating crises also strengthen these beliefs. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help change these negative beliefs and gain healthier eating behaviors. Symptoms of bulimia nervosa include binge eating, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and behaviors harmful to weight control. Treatment methods include cognitive behavioral therapy, medication, and nutritional counseling. In conclusion, examining bulimia nervosa from a cognitive behavioral perspective can provide a better understanding of the causes and symptoms of this disease and help develop effective treatment methods.
