This paper aims at examining how “Ferhat’ın Yeni Acıları” (Ferhat’s New Pains) written by the leading writer of Turkish origin, Yüksel Pazarkaya, who lives in Germany, transforms the theme and the form in the traditional “Ferhat and Şirin” narration. While the Pazarkaya’s play was being examined, it was associated with the text in oral tradition in order to reveal how the story was presented by modernizing it and how the content changed
