Abstract:

Congenital hypotonia; It is a condition in which brain, muscle and eye involvement are seen together, accompanied by respiratory distress, malnutrition and severe cerebral damage. Patients with a typical facial appearance due to hypotonia are mostly diagnosed in infancy. The fact that the disease requires lifelong treatment and follow-up necessitates the need for quality and systematic nursing care. Increasing the patient's quality of life, reducing mortality and keeping the care needs at an optimum level are possible with comprehensive and systematic nursing care. The data obtained from the case were evaluated in accordance with the Life Activities Based Nursing Model. Nursing diagnoses for the care needs of the case were selected from the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association, and an evidence-based nursing care plan was created by using the Nursing Outcomes Classification and Nursing Interventions Classification systems at the care plan stage. The nursing diagnoses determined for the case; acute pain, ineffective respiratory pattern, risk of disruption of oral mucous membrane integrity, and chronic confusion. In line with the results obtained from the case, it is recommended that the classification systems be used in a larger number of patients and diagnostic groups and the results of the study are published.
