Dil, insanın varoluşundan beri kullanageldiği en önemli iletişim aracıdır. İnsan duygu ve düşüncelerini dil ile ifade etmekte, diğer insanlarla dil vasıtasıyla anlaşabilmektedir. Dil, doğası gereği değişime ve dönüşüme açık toplumsal bir olgudur. İnsanlık tarihi içerisinde toplumların kullandıkları dildeki kelime hazneleri savaş, göç, devrim, ticari olaylar, sosyal ve kültürel faktörler gibi çeşitli sebeplerden dolayı sürekli bir hareketlilik içerisinde olmuştur. Kimi sözcükler anlam genişlemesine, kimisi anlam daralmasına, kimisi anlam iyileşmesine, kimisi anlam kötüleşmesine, kimisi de anlamın tamamen değişimine uğramıştır. Bu çalışmada ilk olarak anlambilimin önemli konuları arasında yer alan anlam değişmelerinin genel düzeyde hangi yollarla meydana geldiğine değinilmiş, daha sonra Arap dili özelinde anlam değişmesine sebep olan faktörler örnekler ışığında tespit edilerek açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu sebeplerden en yaygın olarak görülen dilsel, tarihsel, sosyal, kültürel, siyasi, psikolojik, yabancı dillerin etkisi, sözcüğün yaygın olarak kullanımı ve isim koyma zarureti gibi faktörler ele alınmıştır. Söz konusu değişimler izah edilirken anlambilimle ilişki içerisinde bulunan bilim dallarına başvurulmuştur.
Language is the most important communication tool that humans have used since their existence. People express their feelings and thoughts with language and can communicate with other people through language. Language, by its nature, is a social phenomenon that is open to change and transformation. Throughout the history of humanity, the vocabulary in the language used by societies has been in constant motion due to various reasons such as war, migration, revolution, commercial events, social and cultural factors. Some words have undergone semantic extension, some semantic restriction, some semantic improvement, some semantic deterioration, and some completely changed in meaning. In this paper firstly, the ways in which semantic changes, which are among the important subjects of semantics, occur at the general level are explained, and then the factors that cause semantic changes in the Arabic language are discussed in the light of examples. Among these reasons, the most common linguistic, historical, social, cultural, political, psychological, the effects of foreign languages, the widespread use of the word and the necessity of naming are handled. While explaining these changes, the branches of science that are in relation with semantics were applied.
