Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to study the doctoral thesis studies related to environmental education in the field of education and teaching in Turkey. The YÖK National Database has been used to determine the doctoral theses published within the framework of environmental education that will be included in this research. The study on environmental education was reached on 9 August 2021. For screening at the YÖK Thesis Scanning Center, the scanning area "Environmental Education" and the subject area "education and teaching" are written and 81 of the doctoral theses obtained by selecting "doctoral" as a thesis type, 78 of the doctoral theses are included in the study because there is no access permission to the content of three of them. The classification of the thesis studies is based on the thesis; the year in which it was published, the university in which it was published, the institute in which it was published, the anatomy branch in which it was published, the research method, the data analysis techniques, the gender of researchers, the titles of consultants, the work group, the research topic. The research has found that the doctoral theses that can be reached at the thesis scan center of the Higher Education Council Presidency are most published in 2018. The most examined theses were found to be performed at the Gazi University. It is determined that most of the examined theses are prepared by the Institute of Education Sciences. The theses found that the most combined methods used as the research method, the research group consisted of the most candidates for teachers of science. The doctoral theses in the field of environmental education have been determined as the research subject that the number of studies related to environmental literature, environmental awareness and environmental attitude is excessive.
