Abstract:

Aim: The aim of the study was to determine mobility and fall behavioral in elderly living in nursing home. Method: This cross-sectional study included 124 elderly people. Research data were collected by using personal information form, Rivermead Mobility Index and Fall Behavioral Scale for Elderly People. Result: The average ages were 77±8.2. It was determined that 49.6% of the elders that fell at least once within the last year and 65.3% of them were afraid of falling. Rivermead Mobility Index score was found lower; women, aged 81 and over, fear of failing, poor subjective physical and mental health, not exercise regularly(p 0.05). The scores of Fall Behavioral Scale were significantly higher women, ages 81 and over, illiterate, have chronic diseases, poor subjective physical health, fear of falling, not exercise regularly(p 0.05). Conclusion: The prevalence of falling among elderly people living in nursing home was high and most of them were afraid of falling. In order to prevent these fallings, elders are supported regular exercise and addition it is important to take the necessary of prevention and decrease of fear of falls for the elders.
