Abstract:

Introduction: In nursing education, students are expected to incorporate knowledge, skills, attitudes, professional values and ethical principles regarding nursing. This identifying study was conducted with the aim of determining the professional values and ethical sensitivities of the injury nurses. Method: This study was carried out with a Faculty of Health Sciences nursing final class students (n=139). The ethical board, the institution's permission and individual approval were collected in this study with the survey form, the Nurses' Professional Values Scale and Byrd's Nurses' Ethical Sensitivity Test. Results: 84.9% of the students who participated in the study were girls and 56.8% selected the nursing department, 55% of the students who participated in the study. It is determined that 4 of them prefer the nursing profession because they are more likely to find a job after graduation. 69.8% of students found their ethical sensitivity at a medium level, and they found that the ethical sensitivity of students who love their profession was better (p<0.05). It has also been determined that the professional values of girls students, who are willing to choose the nursing career, who love the nursing career and who do not want to change their career are better (p>0.05). The study found that the status of students’ gender, love the profession and preference of the profession willingly influence their levels of ethical sensitivity and professional values. The activities to be carried out to develop the professional values and ethical sensitivities of students in nursing education and the training programming arrangements are important for the development of the nursing profession.
