Abstract From the writings in the Field Diary, a document in which we recorded details of the pedagogical practice, and guided by the question: "which knowledge opportunities are offered by Physical Education classes to students of Basic Education?", this article aims to share the experience of the Teaching Internship in Physical Education in Early Childhood Education, a compulsory component of the curriculum in the formation of the Licentiate Course in Physical Education of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. This experience occurred between January and May 2021 using the model of Emergency Remote Teaching, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, developed for two classes of Preschool 1 of a public early childhood education school in Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil. Despite the challenges, we noticed that we learned more than we taught and that the highlighted question lies in the process of understanding what one does through the Initial Formation and the pedagogical practices in real schools.
