Metaverse, günümüzde adını sıkça duyduğumuz bir kavram haline geldi. “Öte evren” veya “Evren ötesi” olarak adlandırılmaktadır. Kavram, ilk olarak Neal Stephenson’ın 1992’de yayımladığı bilimkurgu roman Snow Cras’de ortaya çıkmış 2021’de Facebook’un sahibi Mark Zuckerberg tarafından sosyal medya platformlarının isminin Meta şeklinde değiştirilmesi ile bir kez daha gündeme gelmiş ve popülerlik kazanmıştır. Sanal alanlar gerçek yaşamın kendisi haline gelmeye başlamıştır. İnsanların hayallerinde Metaverse, sanal gerçeklik gözlüğü kullanılarak online ortamda tasarlanmış olan üç boyuta sahip sanal nitelikli bir dünyada etkileşime girebileceği, fiziki dünyadaki engellerin bulunmadığı ortam olarak şekillenmiştir. Burada insanlar, iş imkânları geliştirebilecek, ticaret yapabilecek, istedikleri yerleri ziyaret edebilecek, tatil, konser ve konferans gibi etkinliklere bir avatar yardımıyla katılabilecektir. Bu çerçevede Metaverse’ün hayatımıza etkisini önümüzdeki süreçte daha da artıracağı öngörülmektedir. Yapılan çalışmada, Metaverse’ün gelişimi ele alınmış, kullanıldığı alanlar örnekleriyle anlatılmış ve geleceği hakkında çıkarımlarda bulunulmuştur.
Metaverse has become a concept that we often hear today. It is called “Other Universe” or “Other Universe”. The concept first appeared in the science fiction novel Snow Cras published by Neal Stephenson in 1992; in 2021 Facebook’s owner Mark Zuckerberg changed the name of social media platforms to Meta and became popular. The virtual fields have begun to become the real life itself. In people’s dreams, Metaverse has been shaped as an environment in which they can interact in a three-dimensional virtual-qualitative world, designed in the online environment using virtual reality glasses, where there are no obstacles in the physical world. Here people will be able to develop business opportunities, trade, visit where they want, participate in events such as holidays, concerts and conferences with the help of an avatar. In this framework, it is expected that Metaverse will increase its impact on our lives in the next process. In the study, the development of Metaverse was discussed, the fields used were explained with examples and conclusions about the future.
