The relationship between psychological disorders and violence and criminal behavior has been researched throughout the years. In consideration of past and today, it has been suggested that there is a relationship between crime and psychological disorders in social rhetoric in the historical process. The number of studies conducted since 2000 proclaiming that the frequency of crime and violent behaviors committed by the individuals diagnosed with having psychological disorder is higher than the overall population has been increased. However, the risk associated with the criminal behavior is not the same for the entire types of psychological disorders. When there is a diagnosis of mental disorder and additional determinants such as past criminal history, alcohol-substance abuse or noncompliance with treatment, the tendency to delinquency is higher. On the other hand, it would not be inaccurate to consider that the criminal behavior of psychiatric cases is increasing in line with the increase in crime rates in the society. In this review study, it was aimed to analyze the crime relationship in the focus of schizophrenia, mood disorders, personality disorders and substance abuse, which have a high correlation between psychological disorders and crime.
