In this research; the relationship between musical intentions and location choices of street musicians is questioned correlatively musicians’ cultural backgrounds and preferred music genres, with sociologic perspective and qualitative and descriptive methods. Kadikoy district of Istanbul, where the research takes place, has been examined under categories “upper” and “lower” and the intentions of the musicians has been categorized as “making money”, “being visible” and “artistic.” The answers, stories and problems of the street musicians are quoted with their own expressions. As a result; it has become clear that musicians of the “lower” Kadikoy have intentions of making money or being visible, while the musicians of the “upper” Kadikoy have artistic intentions.
