Abstract:

Purpose: This interim study was carried out with the aim of studying the perceptions of the school social climate and the influential factors of primary school students. Method: Study in 2013-2014 with the random sampling method selected in the Salihli district center at the top, middle and low socio-economic level of three primary education institutions received the second grade of 600 students. The data was collected with the sociodemographic question form and the school social climate scale. The data was collected by distributing questions to students after the ethical permissions were received, in the tenefas or before the course began, and the SPSS 20.0 package program was studied by number, percentage distribution, Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, Spearman correlation test. The statistical significance level is considered p < 0.05. Results: The average age of students is 12.62 ± 1. 11, school social climate scale score average is 3.6 ± 0.8, low scale score average is 3.5 ± 0.9 and 3.6 ± 1.0. There are statistically significant differences between the perceptions of the school’s social climate and the socio-economic level, age, gender, parent education and the number of brothers and sisters. Result: The perceptions of the school social climate of students are at the level of "I agree". The school climate perception of students studying in the middle-economic school, girls students, students with nine or more children in their families and their father graduates is high. It is determined that the children of mothers who are educated at the level of readers are under the perception of the school climate. The conduct of qualitative studies on the subject, the planning of activities that will develop the perception in a positive direction, especially by supporting the consulting activities of male students in higher and lower socio-economic schools.
