Abstract:

The urban open-green spaces that offer positive contributions to the physical, social, economic and ecological perspective and diversity towards the city and the city are the places where the physical, mental and social needs of the urban residents are addressed. Quality planned/designed open-green spaces are the use of spaces that improve the quality of life in cities with the functions they offer. This is an important part of the city life. The aim of this study is to identify the planning and design indicators of open-green spaces by moving from the assumption that their planning and design have a direct and indirect positive contribution to the physical, social, economic and ecological contribution of open-green spaces in the cities. In this context, the current literature and the planning and design indicators relating to urban open-green spaces applications at national and international level (alensive size, location, availability, the amount of green spaces contained, the amount of hard ground, urban furniture, the level of ability to respond to user requests in the area, aesthetic characteristics, etc.) It is assessed in a comprehensive manner. Central Park (New York), Hyde Park (London), Luxembourg Gardens (Paris), Chulalongkorn University Hundred Years Park (Bangkok), Kylde Warren Park (Dallas) and Darling Port Public Area (Sidney) and open-green spaces that improve urban quality in Turkey are studied in examples of Seğmenler Park (Ankara), Gülhane Park (Istanbul), Adana Central Park (Adana), Golden Park (Ankara), Culture Park (Izmir) and Reşat Oyal Culture Park (Bursa). Research findings show in open-green areas designed to improve the quality and viability of the urban environment; (1) the primary adoption of ecological design indicators, (2) the creation of areas where people can gather and socialize, and the presentation of cultural activities for different users, and (3) the aim of increasing physical activity. This study illustrates the planning and design indicators of open-green spaces that provide a high level of quality of life in urban spaces in the context of literature and successful world examples; the successful open-green spaces systems are included in urban spaces to the relevant actors (local managers and urban planner, architect, landscape architect, etc.). It is the authority to contribute due to the presentation of a road map.
