Objective: Health programs broadcast on television provide information on health promotion for individuals. The research was carried out to determine the relationship with health promoting and protective behaviors of motivation to health programs monitoring on television of individuals with chronic diseases. Materials and Methods: The descriptive and cross-sectional study included 91 patients with chronic disease enrolled in a Family Health Center. The data was obtained through patient diagnosis form, Health Programs Monitoring Motivations Scale and Health Promotion and Protective Behaviors Scale. Results: It was determined that there was a positive correlation between the general and subscale score averages of the Patients' Health Programs Monitoring Motivations Scale and the Health Promotion and Protective Behaviors Scale (p <0.05). It was determined that the importance of information, support / sharing and personal benefit in patients' follow-up health programs were factors that significantly affect the level of health promoting and protective behavior (R=0.323, R2=0.105, F=4.351, p=0.039). It has been determined that the importance that patients attach to information, support and personal benefit explains 10.5% of the total variance at the level of health-promoting and protective behavior. Conclusion: It was determined that the patients' level of monitoring their television programs for information, support, awareness, habit and personal benefit improves and protects psychosocial health positively. In addition, it was determined that high motivation to monitor health programs in terms of information, support and personal benefit increased the level of health promotion and protective behavior.
