Günümüz gençliği önceki kuşaklardan oldukça farklı olarak çok erken yaşlardan itibaren internet, teknoloji ve dijitalleşme temelli gelişmelere maruz kalarak büyümüş, bunların etkisiyle şekillenmiştir. Günlük hayatlarının hemen her alanında internet temelli teknolojilerle yaşayan bu gençliğin yapabildiğince fazla şeyi internet üzerinden halletme yoluna gittiği bilinmektedir. Gençlik, kitap okumak gibi klasik aktiviteleri bile internet temelli uygulamalar/siteler üzerinden sürdürebilmektedir. Bu bağlamda Wattpad, çoğunlukla Z kuşağı olarak adlandırılan 2000 sonrası gençliğin popüler olarak kullandığı bir kitap okuma-yazma ve sosyalleşme platformu olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Wattpad içerisinde gençler tarafından farklı kategorilerde yazılan, okunma oranı milyonları aşmış çok fazla sayıda kitabı barındırmaktadır. Kitapların yazarları hariç okuyucularının da çoğunlukla benzer yaş grubundaki gençler olduğu bilinmektedir. Wattpad’de kitaplara yorum yapma özelliği bulunması yazar ve okuyucu gençler arasındaki sosyalleşme yönünü oluşturmaktadır. Tüm bu özellikleriyle Wattpad’in incelenmesi de gençlik konusu başta olmak üzere birçok konuda veri sunmaktadır. Bu bağlamda bu araştırma Wattpad’i konu alan lisansüstü tezlere odaklanmaktadır. Araştırmada amaç Wattpad konusundaki literatürü derlemek, tezlerin ortak ve farklı yönlerini ortaya koymak, bundan sonraki Wattpad konulu araştırmalara yön göstermektir. Araştırmada YÖK’ün Ulusal Tez Merkezi sitesinde “Wattpad” kelimesi taratıldığında bulunan lisansüstü tezler nitel araştırma doküman analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiş, Maxqda programı ile veriler analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda Wattpad’in oldukça az araştırılmış bir alan olduğu, tezlerin sınırlı sayıda Wattpad kitabını incelediği, bazı araştırmacılar tarafından aynı kitapların tekrar incelendiği, Wattpad kullanıcıları ve özelliklerine dair sadece bir araştırma olduğu görülmüştür.
Today's youth, quite different from previous generations, has grown up by being exposed to internet, technology and digitalization-based developments from a very early age, and has been shaped by the influence of these. It is known that this youth, who lives with internet-based technologies in almost every aspect of their daily lives, tries to do as much as they can over the internet. Youth can continue even classic activities such as reading books through internet-based applications / sites. In this context, Wattpad emerges as book reading-writing and socializing platform popularly used by the post- 2000 youth, which is mostly called Z generation. Wattpad contains a large number of boks written by young people in different categories, with the reading rate exceeding millions. Except for the authors of the books, it is known that the readers of the books are mostly young people in the same age group. The feature of commenting on books on Wattpad constitutes the socialization aspect between young writers and young readers. With all these features, the examination of Wattpad also provides data on many subjects, especially on the topic of youth. In this context, this research focuses on postgraduate theses about to Wattpad. The aim of this research is to compile the literature on Wattpad, to reveal the common and different aspects of the theses, and to guide the future research on Wattpad.In this research, the postgraduate theses found when the word "Wattpad" was searched on the National Thesis Center website of YÖK were examined by qualitative research, document analysis method and the data were analyzed with the Maxqda program. As a result of the research, it was seen that Wattpad is a very little researched area, the theses examined a limited number of Wattpad books, the same books were reviewed by some researchers, and there was only one research on Wattpad users and their features.
