Covid-19 Salgını Sürecinde Paramedik Öğrencilerinin Beslenme Alışkanlıklarının Araştırılması
2020

Abstract:

Abstract:

Source: This study aims to investigate the nutritional habits of university students studying in the paramedic department with the cause of Covid-19 disease during the period of social isolation. Participants are students who are getting a paramedical education at the university. A total of 170 students have been surveyed. 65 men and 105 women participated in the study. The surveys used the personal information form and social media exposure survey Demirezen and Çoşansu (2005) developed nutritional habits index. In statistical processes, the SPSS 23.00 package program was used. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was conducted to test whether the data is normally distributed or not, and it was found that the data showed normal distribution. In statistical processes, independent t-test, paired t-test, unilateral variance analysis and LSD tests were used. My students’ pre-epidemial and epidemic eating habits are not statistically meaningful according to gender (p>0,05). Students' pre-epidemial nutrition scores are significantly lower than the nutrition scores in the epidemic process (p<0,001). The proportion of those who did not break the meal increased and the proportion of those who did not break the meal increased and the proportion of those who did not break the meal increased. In the process of infection and before the epidemic, food jumping cases did not change by gender (p>0,05). Before the infection, the number of snacks in women and men was different, while the period of the epidemic was similar. Although there is no significant gender difference, women have made more changes in their diet than men during the epidemic process. There has been significant differences in nutrition scores between those who have no or very little information about the Covid-19 epidemic and those who are highly exposed. The diet of those who are highly exposed has been badly affected (p<0,05). The nutritional scores of the athletes were found to be significantly lower than the others (p<0,05) for 6-7 days a week. The negative eating habits of the athletes are less than those who do less athletes for 6-7 days a week. This study found that the eating habits of paramedic students during the Covid-19 epidemic were similar to gender but were negatively affected by the epidemic process. It is believed that in the future studies will be important to evaluate eating habits if they are conducted with more participants in different sampling groups.

Abstract:

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the nutritional habits of the university students who were trained in the first and emergency aid department due to Covid-19 disease in the social isolation period. Participants are students who receive first and emergency aid education at the university. The questionnaires filled by 170 students were evaluated. 65 male and 105 female university students participated in the study. The questionnaires, personal information form and social media exposure survey were used by the nutrition habits index developed by Demirezen & Çoşansu (2005). SPSS 23.00 package program was used in statistical operations. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was performed to test whether the data was normally distributed and it was determined that the data showed normal distribution. Independent t-test, paired t-test, unidirectional variance analysis and LSD tests were used in statistical operations. Ethics committee approval was given at the meeting of Trabzon University Social and Humanities Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Committee on 30.06.2020/81614018-000-E.204. My students' nutritional habits before the outbreak and during the outbreak were not statistically significant (p>0.05). The pre-outbreak nutrition scores of the students were significantly lower than the nutritional scores during the outbreak period (p <0.001). The rate of those who did not skip meals increased during the outbreak period, and the rate of those who skipped meals mostly decreased. According to gender meal skipping status did not change before and during the outbreak periods (p>0,05). While the number of meals skipped in men and women before the outbreak was different, it was found similar during the outbreak. Although there was no significant difference in terms of gender, women made more changes in their diet compared to men during the pandemic. There was a significant difference in nutritional scores between those exposed to little or no information about Covid-19 outbreak on social media and those who were exposed too much. The diet of those who were exposed was badly affected (p <0.05). Nutritional scores of those who do sports 6-7 days a week were found to be significantly lower than others (p <0.05). The negatives in the eating habits of those who do sports 6-7 days a week is lower than those who do less sports. Conclusion: In this study, it was found that the eating habits of first and emergency aid students were similar in gender during the Covid-19 outbreak process, but were negatively affected by the outbreak period. It is thought that if future studies are carried out with more participants in different sample groups, it will be important in terms of evaluating nutritional habits.
