Abstract:

In the study, it was aimed to determine the frequency of violence and fear elements in cartoons broadcast on TRT Children's Channel. In addition, it was also examined whether there are elements of violence and fear in cartoons, and if so, which violence and horror elements are used. Another sub-aim of the research is to raise the audience awareness about violence and horror by drawing attention to cartoon content. The research was carried out using qualitative research method. One of the qualitative research methods, document analysis technique was used. A total of 149 episodes of 11 cartoons broadcast on TRT Children's Channel were analyzed. The contents of the cartoons were examined using the checklist. Content analysis method was used in the analysis of the data obtained. As a result of thinning; There are verbal violence and physical violence elements in cartoon texts and the most verbal violence elements are included, psychological violence and physical violence elements are included in the visuals of cartoons and psychological violence elements are mostly used in the cartoon texts, sound, movement, light and surreal horror elements are It was determined that horror elements with the most audio content were included, the visuals of cartoons included fear elements with movement, surreal and facial expression, and the most facial expression content was used.
