Abstract:

The aim of this study is to investigate how and with what concepts the alternative type of tourism, which is defined as "Sadness Tourism" in the field article, is defined in academic studies. The universe of research; between 2000 and 2021, studies published in national and international journals in Turkey constitute thesis and congress papers written on the subject. In this context, 60 publications, including 14 postgraduate theses, 40 articles and 6 communiqués (communiqués) on the subject presented in the congress in Turkey, which can be accessed in “Google Academic, TR Directory and National Thesis Center” were evaluated. Data collection method from secondary sources was used for literature review of researches on sadness tourism. The data obtained were analyzed within the framework of various parameters and the distribution of the studies related to the years of publication, distribution of keywords, distribution of conceptual and etiquette situations, distribution of research type, data collection and data analysis methods and distribution of the authors' numbers were examined. According to the analysis obtained as a result of the research, it was determined that the studies first started in 2006 and increased as of 2015. In the keywords evaluated on percentage and frequency analysis, it is seen that the keywords "Battlefield Tourism" come to the fore. When the researches were examined in terms of multi- authorship, it was determined that the majority consisted of two-author studies. When these studies were evaluated according to the research method, quantitative methods were preferred in the thesis, while qualitative method was preferred predominantly in articles and papers.
