The tragedy that occurred in the ancient Greece in the region of Attica in the century, because it developed through the concept of conflict, has significantly affected human life in both mental and aesthetic terms. Despite some interruptions, the tragedy, which will continue to exist in the later process, in the modern era, will also contribute to the emergence of modern species such as the novel that will contribute to the birth of the individual in the literary field. The tragic concept of tragedies is not just an issue that interests the artists; it has attracted many philosophers because of its mental dimension. Max Scheler is one of the philosophers who worked on the tragic concept. This study first determined the framework of the basic concepts of Max Scheler's tragic theory and in this direction discussed the tragic possibility of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novel Red Monday. When addressed by the brothers Pablo and Pedro Vicario, not by the main hero Santiago, but by the murder killers, the novel has the basic characteristics of a tragic text. From the point of view of the problem whether a tragic text can not be written in modern times, it has also been seen that the tragic situation is not purely included in the novel, the tragic sometimes creates an ironic situation.
