Dilbilim, halkbilim ve kültür tarihi çalışmaları bakımından önemli bir yere sahip olan aile ve kişi adları ile lakaplar, bu çalışmanın esasını teşkil etmektedir. Kişilere bir taraftan bir kimlik kazandıran, öte yandan toplumun diğer üyeleriyle çeşitli sosyal ve kültürel ilişkileri sürdürme imkânı sağlayan ad kullanımı, Seyitgazi kasabası örneğinde değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın ana kaynağını, H. 1260-1261/M. 1844-1845 yıllarında kaydı tutulan Seyitgazi Temettuât Defterleri oluşturmaktadır. 1844-1845 yılı sayımı sırasında Hüdavendigâr eyaleti, Bilecik sancağına bağlı bir kaza olan Seyitgazi’nin Belen, Dere, Hoca Yunus ve İki Çeşme mahallelerine ait temettuât defterleri incelenmiştir. Bu defterlerde kaydedilmiş olan aile ve kişi adlarının, sosyo-kültürel alanda sunduğu önemli ipuçları üzerinde durulmuştur. Nitekim özellikle aile adlarının oluşmasında sosyo-kültürel durum, meslek, belirgin fiziksel özellikler, tavır ve davranışlar, geldiği memleket, etnik köken gibi özelliklerin rol oynadığı görülmüş ve bunların irdelenmesine çalışılmıştır. Kişi adlarının kökenleri, sayısal değerleri ve oranlarının tespiti ile Seyitgazi kasabasında kişiye ad konulma usulünde hangi amaç veya amaçların gözetildiği üzerinde inceleme yapılmıştır. Ayrıca bir arada yaşayan insanları daha kolay tanımada ve birbirinden ayırt etmede önemli bir simge olan lakapların kişi adlarıyla birlikte yaygın olarak kullanıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Neticede bu çalışma ile kültürün devamlılığı ve gelecek kuşaklara aktarımında önemli bir işleve sahip olan aile ve kişi adları ile lakapların, toplumsal özelliklerinin ve Türk kültürel hayatındaki sembolik boyutunun değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.
Family and personal names, which have an important place in terms of linguistics, folk sciences and cultural history studies, constitute the basis of this study. The use of the name, which, on the one hand, gives individuals an identity and, on the other hand, makes it possible to maintain various social and cultural relations with the other members of the society, has been assessed in the example of the city of Seyitgazi. The main source of the study, H. 1260-1261/M. In the years 1844–1845 the Seyitgazi Temettuât Books are recorded. As it is known, in the first stage of Sultan Abdülmecid's rule, a general asset (income) count was made in much of the Ottoman geography to determine the state's then economic power, the main tax sources in a healthy way. These countings were made in the neighborhood by the basis of the house and by the name of the households. During the year 1844-1845, Seyitgazi, the Hudavendigâr state, is an accident related to the Bilecik sanctuary. This is the case of the Belen, Dere, Hoca Yunus, and the two districts of Caesme. In these books, each is focused on the important clues that family and individual names, which are recorded in a house, provide us in the socio-cultural field. In fact, especially in the formation of family names, social-cultural status, occupation, distinct physical characteristics, attitudes and behaviors, home to which they come, ethnic origin, and characteristics have been seen to play a role and have been sought to identify them. The origin of the people's names, the numerical values and ratio are revealed, and the purpose of which the name is observed in the city of Seyitgazi is also examined. It has also been found that the letters, which are an important symbol in identifying and distinguishing people who live together, are widely used along with the people’s names. Finally, this study is aimed at assessing the family and individual names, social characteristics and the symbolic dimension of the Turkish cultural life, which have an important role in the continuity of culture and the transfer to future generations.
The names of families and persons with nicknames who have an important place in the study of linguistics, folklore and cultural history constitute the basis of this study. The use of the name, which allows one side to gain an identity and on the other hand, to maintain various social and cultural relations with other members of the society, has been evaluated in the Seyitgazi township example. The main source of the work is Temettuât Registers of Seyitgazi which were recorded in 1844-1845. During the census of 1844-1845, Seyitgazi, was a township connected to the district of Bilecik of Hudavendigar province. Temettuat Registers of Seyitgazi, belong to the Belen, Dere, Hoca Yunus and İki Çeşme neighborhoods, were examined in this study. In these temettuat registers have focused on the important tips that the names of the family and persons, each of which has been recorded in a house, offer to us in the socio-cultural field. As a matter of fact, in the formation of family names has especially played a role various features such as socio-cultural status, occupation, distinctive physical appearance, attitude and behavior, country and ethnic origin and it has been tried to examine them. While the origins, numerical values and ratios of the person names are revealed, at the same time, the purpose for which the names are given has been examined. It has also been found that nicknames, which are important symbols for easier to identify and distinguishing between people living together, are commonly used together with person names. As a result, this study aimed to evaluate the social characteristics and the symbolic dimension of Turkish cultural life of family and person names with nicknames, which have an important role in culturality continuity and transfer to future generations.
