Fr. Ch. Zauner, Ph.D. is a living resourceful author of the Contemporary Austrian literature. The radio, theatre plays, short stories and novels have imprints of the Austrian culture and geography. His novel Dort oben im Walde bei diesen Leuten, translated into Turkish in 1994 as “Ormandaki Yabancıların Sırrı” [The Secret of the Strangers in the Forest], was originally published in 1981. This paper reports a study of structure of time and place, narration, and tools of presentation as well as the motive of cat and mouse. These concepts are the tools of the internal method for the study of a novel that might be encountered during every step of literary research. The present article has been written for didactic purposes no such studies have been found in the literature. Despite being his first novel, we believe that it is an important work reflecting the success of the author.
