Abstract:

Bu çalışmada, olayın vuku bulduğu tarih itibariyle beş defa sadaret makamına oturmuş, önemli bir devlet adamı ve Sultan II. Abdülhamid dönemi kilit isimlerinden biri olan Mehmed Said Paşa’nın İngiliz Büyükelçiğine sığınması ve sığınmasına neden olan amiller ele alınmıştır. Sultan ile Paşa’nın aracılar vasıtasıyla yaptıkları görüşmeler, Paşa’yı ikna çabaları, İngiliz Büyükelçi Philip Currie’nin aracılığında, Avusturya Büyükelçisi Baron Calice önderliğinde büyükelçilerin olaya müdahil olmaları irdelenmiştir. Çalışma, Osmanlı Arşiv Vesikaları ve özellikle konunun muhatabı olan İngiliz Büyükelçi Currie’nin Osmanlı ve İngiliz makamları ile yapmış olduğu yazışmaları ve sunduğu raporları ihtiva eden İngiliz Arşiv Belgeleriyle ele alınmıştır. Konunun Avrupa özellikle İngiliz kamuoyuna yansımalarını takip etmek amacıyla Avrupa kaynaklı gazetelerden ve ihtiyatlı olarak hatıratlardan yararlanılmıştır.

Abstract:

In this study, five times from the date of the incident, a significant state man and Sultan II had sitting in the office of sadness. One of the key names of the Abdülhamid period, Mehmed Said Pasha, has been addressed by the acts that led to his refuge and refuge to the British Embassy. The talks between the Sultan and Pasha through the intermediaries, the efforts to persuade Pasha, through the British Ambassador Philip Currie, and the ambassadors under the leadership of the Austrian Ambassador Baron Calice, were encouraged to interfere with the incident. The study was handled with the British Archives documents containing the letters and reports made by British Ambassador Currie with the Ottoman and British authorities, the Ottoman Archives and in particular the topic's address. It has been used by European-source newspapers and cautiously reminders in order to track the reflections of the topic in Europe, especially in the British public.
