Abstract:

The detailed studies on the Ottoman shishulism are of great importance for better understanding and interpretation of the Ottoman law. In the 17th century, Chatalcali Ali Efendi is one of the names that attracted attention and needs to be studied on both 13 years of shishulism, and in the subsequent period with his multi-applicated muteber fetvals. This article contains the broadest biography of the Chatalcali Ali Efendi's history and tabacate works so far. Another aspect the article aims to identify the process of composition of the work named Fetâvâi Ali Efendi, which is made up of the fetvals given by Çatalcalı Ali Efendi, and for this purpose the work has been referred to in the text record. Finally, the information contained in the literature about Fatah Ali Efendi has been reviewed and tried to get to the most accurate data.
