Abstract:

This study was carried out in order to identify the problems faced by school administrators working in Sanlıurfa during the integration process of Syrians into the basic education system and to determine the solutions that school administrators resort to regarding the problems encountered. The study was carried out with the school administrators of 6 different schools in the central districts of Sanlıurfa (Karaköprü, Eyyübiye, Haliliye). The study group, which consists of 18 school administrators in total, consists of 9 school administrators from primary school and 9 school administrators from secondary school. In this study, semi structured interview form was used to reach the data. For the analysis of the data obtained, descriptive and content analysis methods were used. In the light of the findings obtained as a result of the research, it has been revealed that the most common problem faced by school administrators in the process of integration of Syrians into the basic education system is communication problem. Apart from the communication problem of school administrators, it has been determined that Syrian students have problems in many different areas such as academic inadequacy, problems of adaptation to school, socioeconomic problems, problems with the registration system. In addition, the solutions that school administrators resort to in order to solve these problems are presented.
