Bu araştırmada, 01.01.2005 ve 31.05.2021 tarihleri arasında Oryantiring konulu lisansüstü tezlerin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Belirlenen kriterlere göre Yükseköğretim Kurumu Ulusal Tez Merkezinde 36’sı yüksek lisans ve 3’ü doktora tezi olmak üzere toplam 39 adet tezin var olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında durum çalışması deseninden faydalanılmıştır. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak doküman incelemesi kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz ve içerik analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yapılan tezlerin %84,6’sının 2011 yılı ve sonraki yıllarda yapıldığı belirlenmiştir (n=33). Tez çalışmalarının ağırlıklı olarak spor ve sağlık alanında yapıldığı görülmüştür. Ayrıca eğitim bilimleri, bilişim ve mühendislik alanında yapılmış çalışmalar da bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmalarda sporcu sağlık ve performansı, oryantiring sporunun yararları ve eğitime katkıları, sporcu ve öğrencilerde mekânsal düşünme becerisi, mekân algısı ve harita becerilerinin gelişimi gibi konular ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca yön bulma probleminden hareketle az sayıda da olsa yazılım tabanlı formüller geliştirmeye yönelik çalışmalar yapılmıştır. İncelenen tezlerde ulaşılan bulguların ağırlıklı olarak eğitim öğretim, spor bilinci, mekân algısı, yön bulma becerisi ve harita becerisi alanında olması oryantiring sporunun eğitim ve öğretimle olan yakın ilişkisine dikkat çekmektedir. Bu çalışma oryantiring konulu lisansüstü tezlerin ilk kez birarada incelenmesi açısından önemlidir.
The present study aims to investigate the postgraduate theses published in Turkey on orienteering sport from 01.01.2005 through 31.05.2021. Based on the criteria established for this study, it was determined that 39 theses (36 postgraduate theses plus 3 doctoral dissertations) are available on orienteering in The Council of Higher Education National Theses Center located in Ankara, Turkey. The tool used in collecting data for this case study was that of document analysis. Descriptive and content analyses were used in the course of data analysis. It was determined that 84.6% of all the theses were created from 2011 onwards (n=33). These postgraduate theses were conducted primarily in the field of sports and health, although some of them have also been written on educational sciences, informatics, and engineering. Among the themes investigated in the theses are athlete health and performance, the benefits of orienteering sport and its contribution to education, spatial thinking skills, spatial perception, and mapping skills development in athletes and students. In addition, a small number of studies have been carried out to develop software-based formulas with reference to the wayfinding problem. The fact that the findings of the theses being investigated mainly relate to the fields of education, sports awareness, space perception, wayfinding skills, and map skills calls attention to the close relationship of the orienteering sport with education and training. The present study is the first of its kind in that it investigates all the postgraduate theses published on orienteering sport in Turkey.
