Abstract:

Abstract:

Purpose: This study was done with the aim of determining the milk productivity characteristics of Akkaraman melezi sheep grown in extensive conditions in the Güroluk village of Van or Başkale district and the study of some chemical characteristics such as protein, dry material, oil, lactose, water and total raw ashes in the milk. Material and Method: In the study, a total of 120 heads of Akkaraman melezi sheep were used as animal material. 60 heads of sheep were used to identify some chemical properties in milk. In order to determine the time of lactation and milk productivity in the aftermath of the birth, a double feed was made in 14 days intervals, on average 40 days after birth. The double moisture continued until the beginning of August and then milk measurements were made according to the single moisture essence per day until the end of the lactation period. Lactation milk yield quantity and lactation time are calculated according to the Swedish method. Results: In this study, the breast milk production was an average of 96.41 l and the laktation time was an average of 198.76 days. For the detection of some chemical milk components in the milk, milk samples were taken from three periods of sheep, the beginning (May), the middle (July) and the end (August) of the lactation. The average levels of protein, dried, oil, lactose, water and total raw grain in milk were 6.531, 16.717, 3.421, 4.618, 83.283 and 1.239 mg/l for May respectively; 5.308, 16.406, 5.022, 4.479, 83.594 and 0.923 mg/l for July; 3.654, 21.696, 7.759, 4.216l, 78.304 and 1.034 mg/l for August. Result: As a result, it can be said that the average levels of breast milk production and breastfeeding time in rural conditions are sufficient.

Abstract:

Objective: This study was carried out to investigate the characteristics of milk yield and some milk components such as protein, dry matter, fat, lactose, water, and total crude ash content in milk in Akkaraman crossbred ewes maintained at rural conditions. Materials and Methods: A total of 120 Akkaraman crossbred ewes with ages of 2-6 years were used as animal material. Sixty sheep were used to determine some chemical properties in the milk. Milking in Akkaraman ewes started at forty days after parturition. Controls of the milking were made at 14 days intervals. The lactation milk production and the lactation period for each ewe were calculated according to data of controls based on test-day records and Sweden method. Results: The means of the lactation milk yield and the lactation period of Akkaraman crossbred ewes were 96.41 l and 198.76 days, respectively. At the beginning (May), the middle (July) and, the end (August) of the lactation period, it was determined that means of protein, dry matter, milk fat, lactose, water ratio, and total crude ash content were 6.531, 16.717, 3.421, 4.618, 83.283, and 1.239 mg/l for May; 5.308, 16.406, 5.022, 4.479, 83.594, and 0.923 mg/l for July; 3.654, 21.696, 7.759, 4.216, 78.304, and 1.034 mg/l for August, respectively. Conclusion: As a result, the findings suggested that the lactation milk yield and the lactation period of Akkaraman crossbred ewes were sufficient levels for rural conditions.
