Abstract:

This study examines the management structure of public institutions, local administrative bodies, non-profit and private organizations, which provide social work. The prominence of strategic management approach in these organizations, whose primary goal is to provide social benefit, emerges the necessity of reviewing current organizational structure and management approach accordingly. The study covers the fundamental concept of the strategic management process and emphasizes the importance of strategic management for these kinds of organizations. Although social work is an applied academic discipline, there is a limited number of studies focused on the management of organizations. Given the economic size of social work, its social impact, and its ability to lead social policies developed by political authority, it reveals the importance of a modern strategic management approach for these organizations. This study examines that social work organizations should be managed with a strategic management approach in order to be efficient in today’s world, where resources are limited, but needs are increasing and diversifying.
