The aim of this study is to make an analysis of the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Student Attitude and Faith Scale on Writing developed by Cheung, Stupple and Elander (2017). For the adaptation of the scale, data were collected from 472 university students who continue to study in the various faculties of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. First Level Verification Factor Analysis (DFA) for the structure validity of the measurement, while for the reliability of the measurement, the internal consistency ratio of McDonald's ω was considered. According to the first level DFA, the three-factor structure of the scale (Author confidence, Writing value, Identity with Writing) has been verified and the analysis-related conformity indicators have been shown to give excellent results (χ2=439, df=114, χ2/df=3,85; RMSEA=0,077; CFI=0,97; TLI=0,89; SRMR=0.51). In addition, in the reliability analysis, McDonald’s ω internal consistency ratio was found for the entire scale .91, for the author’s confidence .86, for the value given to the text .77 and for the identity with the writing .77. According to the results of the analysis, the scale of student attitude and beliefs to the writing developed for university students has shown good results in the selected sample of the Turkish adaptation study.
The aim of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of the Turkish translation of the Student Attitudes and Beliefs about Authorship Scale. This scale was developed by Cheung, Stupple and Elander (2017). Student Attitudes and Beliefs about Authorship Scale for University students was first translated into Turkish and then back translated. Subsequently, the questionnaire was administered to 472 college students. The internal consistency of the scale (McDonald’s ω) was examined for reliability and first order confirmative factor analysis (CFA) was conducted with using Jamovi program for the validity of the scale. CFA, similar to the original scale, confirmed the fit of the three-factor model (authorial confidence, valuing writing and identification with author). (χ2=439, df=114, χ2/df=3,85; RMSEA=0,077; CFI=0,97; TLI= 0,89; SRMR= 0,51). The internal consistency reliability coefficient of the whole scale is .91, authorial confidence was .86, valuing writing and identification with author were .77. Our findings show that Turkish version of the Student Attitudes and Beliefs about Authorship Scale has acceptable levels of reliability and validity for the selected samples.
