Abstract:

This study was conducted with the aim of examining the attitudes of nurses towards evidence-based nursing in terms of various demographic variables. The universe of the study consists of 900 nurses working in a state hospital operating in the Anatolian region. The sample of the study is made up of 200 nurses who are easily obtained and voluntarily involved in the study using the sampling method. The research has been used as a quantum research design and the research is characteristic. As a data collection tool, it has been developed by Ruzafa-Martinez, Lopez-Iborra and Madrigal-Torres (2011) and adapted by Ayhan, Kocaman and Bektaş (2015) to the Turkish 15 Question Based Behavior Attitude Measurement. The belief in evidence-based nursing has three subdimensions: the intention to practice evidence-based nursing and the feelings of evidence-based nursing. The overall internal consistency ratio of the measure is ?=0.81; the internal consistency ratio of the three subdimensions is respectively (belief, intention and emotions) ?=0.85, ?=0.63, ?=0.83. In the analysis of the research data, in addition to the identifying analyses, t-test and one-way variance analysis were used in independent groups as the data showed normal distribution. The study found no significant differences in their attitudes towards evidence-based nursing according to the status of the participants following publications related to gender, age, education and nursing. In addition, the participants who conducted scientific research on nursing, who did not conduct scientific research, found that their general attitudes and feelings towards evidence-based nursing were significantly more positive and that their intentions to practice evidence-based nursing were significantly higher. The feelings of nurses attending scientific meetings in nursing are also found to be significantly more positive than the feelings of nurses not attending scientific meetings attending scientific meetings.
