Futsal is a sport with many participants in the world for its facility of being practiced, is a modality that uses all physical valences and the main ones are: strength and power. Studies show that the characteristics of the games are extremely intense and we know little about the physical and physiological responses of futsal players. Objective: To evaluate the effect of a periodization of strength and power in futsal athletes as extra training. The sample consisted of 14 athletes were classified into two groups : experimental G1 which had an extra training in 12 weeks, which took priority in strength and power of the lower limbs using the methods of strategy as the main overload, and control group G2,participated in drills futsal only. The following tests were performed: Running-based anaerobic sprint test (Rast test) ; Shuttle run ; horizontal and vertical leap , speed of the ball in a maximum effort test; On two occasions , before and after intervention of 12 weeks of training . We can conclude that after the intervention of strength training based on plyometrics , vertical jump tests and horizontal jump showed significant improvements for the G1 as compared to G2 . However, for the specific test mode, the training did not change the initial status of the individuals investigated
